Valleys beat Tannum as Brothers push rivals

RUGBY LEAGUE: Valleys continued its recent run of form with a 30-18 win against Tannum in Round 10 Rockhampton Rugby League A-grade action.

The Diehards proved last weekend's win over Biloela was no fluke as they made light work of the Seagulls during the first half to lead 24-0 at half-time.

Tannum responded in the second half but the damage had already been done as Valleys held on for their fourth win of the season.

The victory keeps Valleys in sixth place, but narrows the gap behind the top five to only four competition points.

Brothers gave defending premiers Rockhampton Brothers a huge scare in its match at Victoria Park on Saturday night.

The Gladstone side appeared to be in for a long night as they fell behind 18-0 inside the opening 10 minutes and were trailing 24-0 at half-time.

Another try to Rockhampton Brothers stretched its lead to 30-0, until the Gladstone side scored five of the next six tries to fall four points short.

Brothers remain on six points after the loss, while Tannum remain ninth on four points.

Round 10 results

A-Grade: Rockhampton Brothers 36 def. Gladstone Brothers 32 (Matt Walsh, Tyrone Hopgood, Chris Stolk, Pryce Trevor, Col Hillhouse, an unknown tries; T Hopgood 4 goals);

Valleys 30 def. Tannum 18.
