Man urinates in street in full view of police

URINATING on a street sign in full view of the police was a moment Andrew Sayers may not have the best recollection of, yet it's one he is unlikely to forget.

At 2.50am on December 14 after a work Christmas party, police noticed Sayers in a street near the Reef Hotel.

When asked by police to produce his ID, Sayers refused, claiming he would lose his job, all the while standing in a puddle of his own urine.

Sayers's defiance cost him a $400 fine but no conviction was recorded.

Magistrate Stuart Shearer recommended Sayers find somewhere a little more private in the future.
