University begins study into health risks of PFAS areas

AUSTRALIAN National University has begun a study into the health risks of living in a PFAS investigation area, and is seeking out the experiences of Oakey residents.

The study will hold five focus group discussions in Oakey, with participants to receive a $50 eftpos voucher on the completion of the discussion.

The focus groups are described as "an opportunity... to discuss issues related to living in a PFAS investigation area and to shape the direction of the next phase of our research".

"The purpose of these discussions is to gather information about the social and health-related experiences and views from current residents and workers exposed to PFAS.

The work is part of a larger study into the effects of PFAS chemicals.

Organisers expect the focus group sessions will be held between January 30 and February 1.
