Under 8s celebrate with top educational activities
DRESSED in little aprons, more than 10 under-8s had big dreams for arts class yesterday.
Under Eight's Week is celebrated nationally and Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum had fully booked-out kids' sessions.
The gallery hosted three art club workshops with kids eager to get their hands messy and decorate paper shopping bags.
Early Childhood Network's Lyn Hughes popped in to check on the activities and said she was delighted to see such a great turnout.
"Historically Under Eight's Week has been big in Australia and today represents that," she said.
"What we try to provide, along with the other Gladstone organisations, is a chance for the kids to get out there and take up the opportunities this town has on offer."
Taking to hand painting effortlessly was Tallulah Marsh, 5, who created two bags, one of a blue whale and another of a tiger.
"They're my favourite animals," she said.
"I'm going to use my bag to take to Toy World and fill it up."
Another budding artist, Sakura Ennis, said she created an apple-painted bag. She said the activity was really fun.
