Undefeated girls take out title

A GLADSTONE hockey outfit has taken the stick to their opposition at a recent competition in Toowoomba.

The Capricornia 12 Years and Under girls’ team went undefeated at the 12 Years and Under State Hockey Championships, taking out the tournament.

Coach Kylie Weatherhead was proud of her charges, who did not let a goal past the keeper.

The girls dominated and finished off on top.

This is the first time the title has been held outright since 1983 for the girls.

The girls were outstanding and consistently played as a solid team.

Capricornia boys finished in second place and also played some solid matches only losing one game over the four-day carnival. .

The weather was cold and windy and at the end Queensland State Representative players chosen were Lindsay Mathison, Hannah Lowry (Gladstone) Lachlan Wilson, Lachlan Miller (Rockhampton) and Luke Armstrong (Mackay). Chloe Dredge from Gladstone was also named as a shadow player and the players are travelling to Atherton this weekend for the state championships.
