STUDENTS at Gladstone Martial Arts Academy were treated to a workshop by UFC fighter Nick Osipczak at the weekend.

Briton Osipczak has a wealth of knowledge to share after five Ultimate Fighting Championship fights, opening his own club New Wave Academy in London and having trained with top coaches around the world, including seven weeks in Las Vegas under Michael Bisping as part of The Ultimate Fighter season 9.

He said he stopped in Gladstone to train GMAA students as he travelled the country and he liked what he saw.

"The main thing I like about this gym is the attitude," Osipczak said.

"It's an excellent training atmosphere.

"They work hard and are respectful. As a teacher that's what you want."

GMAA coach Rob McIntyre said it was valuable for the students to be exposed to Osipczak's experience.
