UPDATE: Man charged over NQ stabbing attack

UPDATE 5.15PM

POLICE have charged a 43-year-old Gordonvale man with two counts of murder after the bodies of two women were located at a home in Cairns' southern suburbs about 3.45 this afternoon.

Police found the bodies when they were called to a property on Wiltshire Drive, Gordonvale, following reports of a disturbance.

Two women, both in their 40s, were confirmed dead at the scene while a 17-year-old girl with a cut to the face and a man with chest injuries were treated at the scene.

The Gordonvale man has been charged with two counts of murder in relation to the deceased victims and two counts of attempted murder in relation to the two injured victims.

He is due to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on March 16.

TWO women are dead after a stabbing attack this afternoon in Gordonvale, south of Cairns, while another man and woman have been injured. 

Around 3.45pm police were called to a Wiltshire Drive address following reports of a disturbance.

Two women, both in their 40s, were confirmed dead at the scene while a 17-year-old girl with a cut to the face and a man with chest injuries were treated at the scene.

A man is being questioned over the incident, and also suffered minor injuries. 

Inspector Monique Ralf told the ABC the man went with police willingly.

"When he was speaking to [police] he seemed quite dazed," Inspector Ralf said.

A crime scene has been declared and scientific officers are on scene as police investigate the incident.

Police believe all four people are known to each other.
