Bride and groom surprise wedding guests with baby news

JESSIKA Johnson and Craig Cook wanted to give their guests more than one reason to celebrate on their wedding day.

The freshly married couple decided to drop a big surprise at the reception to their 70 family and friends on April 19.

"We told everyone we are having a baby this year," Mrs Cook said.

"Everyone was pretty shocked but excited.

"The baby is due in October and it will be our first child."

The wedding was at the Agnes Water Golf Club and was everything Mrs Cook hoped for.

"It was a really nice day even though the weather was forecasted to rain," she said.

"We had perfect blue skies and everything ran perfectly.

"There was no stress and I was so excited to have all of our family and friends there."

The reception was also held at the golf club.

For dessert, guests enjoyed a vanilla sponge cake with a twist. "We had a naked cake which is one with no icing or fondant," Mrs Cook explained.

"It just has icing sugar on the sides.

"It was delicious and had fresh flowers on it so it looked really pretty."

Getting married in Agnes Water held a special significance for the couple who had their first date in the town seven years ago.

They originally met at a friend's house party in high school and the rest was history.

"I was 16 and Craig was 18 when we met," Mrs Cook said.

"He proposed to me in Melbourne a year and half ago when we were on a horse and carriage ride around the city."

Mrs Cook, an admin worker on Curtis Island, said being married was a blessing.

"The best part is getting to spend everyday with my best friend," she said.

The couple enjoyed their honeymoon in Vietnam and Cambodia.

They travelled for three weeks and took in lots of sights.
