Two Gladstone drivers busted in highway overtaking blitz
GLADSTONE police are breaking what they call the "central region myth" of drivers exceeding the speed limit to overtake after pulling over two separate drivers overnight.
As two motorists found out last night, this is not the case as they were detected within 15 minutes of each other overtaking vehicles at "excessive speeds" on the Bruce Hwy south of Gladstone.
The first detected at 123kmh in a 100kmh zone received a $243 fine and 3 demerit points.
A second driver was detected 15 minutes later at 133km/h, overtaking, on the same stretch of road.
This driver was issued a $568 fine and 6 demerit points.
Police are urging residents to remember they cannot exceed the speed limit while overtaking.
