One hospitalised after two crashes at busy Coast junction

UPDATE: Paramedics have taken one person to hospital after two separate crashes in close proximity to each other on the Sunshine Mwy.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said four cars were involved in two separate nose-to-tail crashes very close to each other on the Karawatha Dr overpass about 3.25pm.

He said one person had been taken to Nambour General Hospital as a result.

EARLIER: Two crashes on the Sunshine Mwy have caused traffic gridlock this afternoon with extensive delays expected for motorists.

The crashes occurred within minutes of each other about 3.25pm at Mountain Creek near the Karawatha Dr exit.

There are reports of injuries.

Emergency services are arriving on scene.

According to reports traffic has come to a complete standstill.
