Two more candidates come forward for council

BRIAN Ross and Kathy Andrew have both come forward to confirm their interest in the Gladstone Regional Council seat made vacant by Leo Neill-Ballantine.

Yesterday The Observer revealed five of the candidates in the running, including Chris Trevor.

Mr Ross said he nominated so he could affect change.

"I do have some ideas I would like to bring to council and the best way to do that, if I get a chance, is to become a member," he said.

Ms Andrew contested the 2012 election, and said she would be nominating before the deadline.

The council is remaining tight-lipped on the latest number of the nominations.

CEO Stuart Randle said the council would not offer that information until after nominations closed on January 31.

Mr Neill-Ballantine resigned late last year because of personal reasons.

A replacement will be selected by council members, ahead of the next full election in 2016.
