Twilight auction winner keen to sink teeth into new movie
AS Twilight fans get ready for a late night/early morning at Gladstone Cinemas tonight, the winner of an auction to see the latest instalment of the popular franchise is looking forward to her big night on Friday.
Crystal Rice won an auction on the Gladstone Classifieds Facebook page to see Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 with 30 friends in the cinemas' gold room.
The prize included drinks, popcorn and Twilight merchandise including a key ring, torch, wristband and lanyard.
After posting the winning bid of $1600, Ms Rice, a workplace health and safety trainer, set about giving away her tickets.
"When the auction came up I did as much as I could to win," she said.
"And when I won I was so excited, but then I thought, 'I've got 30 tickets, what do I do now?'"
Ms Rice used her Australasian College of Health and Safety Facebook page to give tickets away to keen Twilight fans.
"I thought it would be a good way for me to support the local community," she said.
"In the first week I gave tickets to people who liked the Facebook page, then I started doing things like asking them to post an inspirational catch phrase about safety, and posting photos of people doing something safely."
Ms Rice has worked in the health and safety field for 10 years, and has been training people for about two.
"We train people in how to be safe in the workplace, in high industrial areas," she said.
She's looking forward to meeting everyone at Friday's screening, and being a working mother and studying for a masters qualification, she's keen to sit down and relax for a few hours.
The Twilight movie experience auction was part of a fundraising drive by the Gladstone Classifieds team to raise $10,000 for Gladstone Hospital.
So far a range of fundraising initiatives has raised $3357.
The final Twilight movie follows the story of Bella as she embraces her new life as a vampire and the Cullen family gathers fellow vampire clans to stand up to the Volturi once and for all.
The soundtrack looks to be another talked-about element of the film, with Green Day, Passion Pit and Feist all making appearances.
The movie opens across Australia at midnight on Thursday.
