BEN Turner is taking his chance in the top level of central Queensland football and not letting it go, netting a goal in his first CQ Premier League experience.
Although his Central team went down to a strong Frenchville team, Turner was able to make an impact in the game, giving him confidence for the season ahead.
After spending a number of years in the Reserves team for Central, the 21-year-old is ready to take the next step.
"This is my first season playing Premier League," he said.
Surrounding by teammates, who jokingly labelled him the club's top scorer (after his goal in the season opener), Turner hopes he may be on track to claim the title for real at the season's end.
He has shown form as a striker, tallying up goals in reserves, and sees no reason his form cannot continue.
"For the reserves for the club I was leading scorer two seasons ago," he said.
Clashing with Nerimbera today, Turner will get another chance to put his name on the score sheet.
There is also another match this weekend which he will watch with much interest.
A Liverpool fan, Turner will be keen to see his team triumph over Manchester City on Sunday night to help its bid for the premiership.
"They are the best team around," he said with a laugh.
"We will beat Manchester City on the weekend and have five matches to go," Turner said.
