True Blue gym chain set for expansion
TRUE Blue Health and Fitness at Tannum Sands is as Aussie as gyms come, with its friendly atmosphere and never-give-up attitude instilled on all who walk through the door.
The centre has not been open long but has attracted almost 280 members.
The handy 24/7 trading and six-day-a week childcare service is a win for the residents of the Gladstone region.
"We don't have contracts and memberships start at as little as $16 a week," said co-owner Colleen Harris.
"It's been really busy and that's great. Being 24 hours, that is a drawcard for a lot of shift workers.
"A lot of the mums have to wait for husbands to get home from work so they can work-out."
There are 21 fitness classes per week and the members aren't just people in their 20s.
"We cater from age 5-100. There's no stigma attached to the gym, you are part of our family," Colleen said.
"Our oldest one is 89, she's phenomenal. She does the movers and groovers class.
"We also have Zumba for kids. It's all about getting them off the couch after school."
The True Blue craze is growing, with 10 gyms set to open in Queensland by the end of the year.
"There's five in northern NSW and we are the first for Queensland," Colleen said.
"There's another one opening in Calliope. China wants us now."
Located on 1/97 Hampton Dr in Tannum Sands, the gym has state-of-the-art equipment and enthusiastic staff to go with it.
Colleen said personal trainers and instructors were trained at the gym.
