Truck crash shuts road

A TRUCK and trailer unit carrying an ammonium nitrate cylinder crashed and ended off the road after it collided with another truck on the Gladstone Mt Larcom Rd yesterday.

The two drivers were taken to hospital by ambulance, one with bleeding from the head and the other complaining of pain in the right shoulder.

The truck with the empty trailer jack-knifed and remained on the road.

Queensland Fire and Rescue crews were required to remove a couple of hundred litres of diesel from the slippery road.

Gladstone police were called to the scene at 11.40am to divert traffic through a service road and the main route was reopened at 1.45pm.
