UPDATE 2.40PM: A 65-year-old Laidley man died in a head-on collision with a council truck on Rosewood-Laidley Rd west of Grandchester this morning.

Police said the man's car had veered onto the wrong side of the road as the truck rounded a bend about 9.30am.

It is believed the man had suffered a medical condition, however police investigations were continuing.

Laidley Police officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Jim McDonald said the car had entered into the path of the oncoming truck.

"The truck driver has observed the vehicle and has taken immediate action as in accounted by skid marks at the scene and has made every effort to avoid the collision which was inevitable given where the vehicle was," Snr Sgt McDonald said.

"This tragedy is a strong reminder that if we make one mistake on the roads it can cost ours or somebody else's life."

Police were this afternoon working to confirm the identity of the man.

11.10AM: Police are on the scene of a fatal two-vehicle traffic crash near Laidley.

A truck and car have collided on Rosewood-Laidley Rd between Grandchester and Laidley.

Police have blocked the road near Rosewood and motorists are advised to find an alternative route.

Diversions are in place from Rosewood via Long Gully in Grandchester.

10AM: A truck and car have collided in the Lockyer Valley with reports one person is trapped in the crash wreckage.

The crash was reported about 9.50am on the Laidley-Rosewood Rd, 2km outside of Grandchester.

Emergency services are on scene.

They are attempting to free at least one person trapped in the crash wreckage.

A helicopter has been called to the incident.

The Laidley-Rosewood Rd has been closed.

Diversions are in place from Rosewood via Long Gully in Grand Chester. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
