Birthday party escalates to brawl at The Reef

A TWENTY-first birthday was reported to have escalated into a bar-room brawl at The Reef Hotel on Saturday night.

Six people were arrested during a scuffle, believed to have been sparked by a dispute between security staff and some of the partygoers.

Police attended the hotel, where they were removing one allegedly intoxicated person, before the scene turned ugly, with five others arrested.

All six were charged with assaulting or obstructing police.

The first person arrested was also charged with a public nuisance offence.

They will appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court on July 22.
