Man looking for a fight in Gladstone CBD fined

ONE of the many to appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court this week for alcohol-related offences copped a substantial fine because he went looking for trouble.

Corey Michael Walter appeared in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday, where he pleaded guilty to one count of committing public nuisance.

The court heard that Walter had been looking to fight other members of the public, when he became agitated after being chucked out of licensed premises.

The incident took place in the early hours of February 2.

Police had noticed Walter becoming agitated when security were restraining him outside licensed premises near Goondoon St and Lord St, at about 3.30am.

As the incident unfolded, the attending officers observed that Walter was highly intoxicated.

Magistrate Russell Warfield warned Walter against such behaviour.

Walter was fined $500 and received a six-month banning order from the Central Lane Hotel, The Reef Hotel and Bojangles, but avoided conviction.
