'Full force': New Gladstone business designs fashion store

THE aim to give better access to more clothing brands is the driving force behind three Gladstone residents delving into the fashion industry.

Raymond Hill, Brydie and Holly Alexander will launch Alex and Ander the Label this week online.

The trio then plan to open a store in Gladstone in a bid to offer more clothing options for residents.

The move will bring new clothing labels to Gladstone, including one, Runaway, which is stocked in Myer and David Jones.

The three local Gladstone residents have teamed up with models and a photographer also from the region for the project.

"We have had some feedback that it's the wrong time to be opening the store," Mr Hill said.

"But our attitude is let's give it a go, if they sell, they sell."

They have secured three "modern metropolitan" styled labels including Runaway, B by Runaway and Reverse.

Mr Hill said their prices would range from $49 - $69.

"We want to give this a real local feel.

"Even though we're going online, it's being done by local models, a local photographer.

"We're going to showcase the clothing by doing photo shoots in areas in Gladstone too, so people will know where the business is from," he said.

"Everyone has been saying you need to take baby steps before you can walk, but I've been doing that for years with other businesses.

"With our clothing label we've decided let's go in full force," he said.

Already they have built an online presence with their Facebook page followed by more than 1000 users.

Mr Hill said it jumped by 400 in one week.

Their long-term plans including opening a store in Gladstone's CBD and offering menswear.
