Transport woes set to ease with more direct routes

GLADSTONE's transport woes are set to ease with the Department of Transport reviewing the city's bus network.

More direct bus routes will be injected into the existing timetable, with more services operating later in the day.

The new network will kick into effect on January 29, 2013 with routes 500-506 operating in the Gladstone urban area.

The 550 service will travel between Gladstone and Tannum Sands and Boyne Island.

Less popular travel routes have been removed from the system, as has the City Loop route.

"Routes will also be made simpler and in some cases more direct, with the number of streets that some routes operate along reduced," a DOT representative said.

Gladstone residents are also encouraged to provide their feedback about the new routes to the Department of Transport before Tuesday January 2.
