But there are a few reasons why morning exercise is best.

So, if you're exercising later in the day, your sleep patterns may be affected.

Another benefit of pre-breakfast exercising is that you burn more body fat - stores of carbohydrates are low in the morning, so your body uses fat for energy instead.

Plus, getting your workout out of the way early means you can get on with your day.

Do you prefer a lunchtime workout?

Your muscles will have warmed up nicely by lunchtime and will be ready to get moving.

In the evening, certain hormones that circulate through your body later in the day may help you build muscle.

But if you're finding that evening exercise affects your sleep patterns, opt for low-intensity exercise at night and more vigorous activity earlier in the day.
