Tradies score the big Lotto prize
A GROUP of Gladstone tradesmen had reason to celebrate over the Easter weekend, when their numbers came up in Saturday night’s Gold Lotto draw.
The 13 colleagues, who have been playing a shared Saturday Gold Lotto entry for the past 18 months, will each claim a $85,354.20 share of the $1,109,604.56 division one prize.
A spokesperson for the syndicate explained that the group took their winning numbers from a System 9 QuickPick entry purchased in their first week as a syndicate.
“We’ve been playing those same nine numbers ever since,” the man said.
“This is amazing. It really hasn’t taken very long for our numbers to come up.
“This prize money will make a real difference to some of the boys.
“One of them is 70 years old and still working to save for his retirement. I really hope this will enable him to hang up his boots and enjoy a slower pace of life.”
When asked how they found out about the win, the syndicate spokesperson explained that one of the shareholders was watching the draw.
“When he called to tell me all our numbers had come up I just couldn’t believe it,” the man said.
The syndicate leader purchased the winning System 9 entry from Clinton Park News in Gladstone.
The syndicate win was one of four division one winning entries nationally in Saturday night’s Gold Lotto draw. There was one division one winning entry in Tasmania and two in NSW.
The winning numbers were 32, 5, 13, 25, 10 and 37. The supplementary numbers were 41 and 24.
