'Tortured within an inch of her life': Arrest over attack
A MAN who allegedly tortured a woman to within an inch of her life called paramedics afterwards in a panicked state, police will allege.
Detective Senior Sergeant Rod Watts said police had struggled to find out information about the incident, but knew 31-year-old Nicholas Crilley called triple 0.
Someone also tried to tend to the woman's wounds prior to the arrival of paramedics.
The 21-year-old victim is expected to recover in hospital and police hope to speak with her in the coming weeks.
"We don't believe the injuries she sustained occurred at Bulimba," Detective Sergeant Watts said.
Police have no clue where the crimes were committed and have called on the public's assistance.
The pair had been living at Bulimba, in inner city Brisbane.
Detective Sergeant Watts also revealed that two officers suffered minor neck and back injuries trying to arrest the man last night.
PolAir and the Dog Squad were needed to track the man across three suburbs, during which he allegedly rammed police cars and injured the officers, before stealing an elderly woman's car.
He has also been charged with serious assault police and obstruct police, among other offenses stemming from the chase.
