Top trackside treat in Gladdy
THOSE who ventured out to the speedway on Saturday night were greeted with a real treat.
Some of the best racing seen in Gladstone for a long time was featured.
"The night was very well received," organiser Robyn Reddacliffe said.
"It wasn't our biggest crowd, there were a few events on Saturdayother night, but we were very happy with the crowd that we did attract.
"We were also really happy with the racing conditions and the races."
Dean Ballard was hard to beat in the AMCA Nationals.
Dominating the heats Ballard went on to win the class followed by Andrew Baker in second and Nathan Battersby in third place.
Proving that anything can happen in motor sport was Danny Lennon in the Super Stockers.
Lennon led the charge in the heats but failed to finish the feature.
This left way for Jeff Ohl to finish in first, Shane Walker in second and local rider Bob McCosker in third.
"Due to the track conditions we were also able to hold a handicap event which was great," Reddacliffe said.
"It was very popular and the riders had a blast."
The speedway will now break over the silly season with the next event being held in February.
