Top marks for Benaraby at Pro Stock event
THE first Pro Stock races ever held at Benaraby Raceway have dragged a healthy crowd to the venue, entertaining the masses at this year's edition of the Benaraby Nationals.
Five Pro Stock machines were on hand, including the first ever outing for local driver Rob Nunn.
While Nunn was chasing the frontrunners as the inexperienced driver in the field, veteran driver John
Barbagallo gave his stamp of approval to the venue and hopes to come back again in future years.
"It is a regional track but it is as good as your Calder Park's and the like," he said. "We really appreciate that Benaraby put on a race for us, we thank them for that."
From Ayr in North Queensland, for Barbagallo Benaraby is one of the shorter travels on the Nationals circuit.
The driver believes Benaraby will see more entrants for Pro Stock in the future if it continues chasing the bracket's involvement.
We are having fun," he said. "We would like to come back, we are trying to run as fast as we can."
Nine other categories were also on the schedule including the largest Supercharged Outlaw field ever assembled locally at 16 entrants, with a total of 97 drivers racing overall.
