Top designers show creations as students take to catwalk

CREATIONS from some of the region's top designers were in the spotlight at the Calliope Catwalk Fashion Design Awards at the weekend.

The event was hugely successful, drawing a great range of entrants and participants.

There were 10 sections within the awards including race wear, recycled fashions and wearable art.

Event coordinator Lynda Ninness said there had been a strong community response.

"A lot of the local kids got really involved," she said.

"In total we had 83 separate garments entered in the competition."

Ms Ninness said funds raised went towards the Calliope State School P & C.

"I'd like to especially acknowledge Kathy Corones for donating her time to train the young models."
