Toowoomba models showcase autumn fashion

TOOWOOMBA beauties took to the runway wearing the latest autumn fashion at the Clique Modelling Agency launch.

The styles seen on the catwalk proved Toowoomba is up to date with the trends.

Dressed by Toowoomba boutiques Ivy Designer Collections, Ophelia, Smoke and Mirrors and Florence and Marabel, the models showcased everything from casual wear to evening wear.

Clique Modelling Agency founder Chloe Simon said the event was a great opportunity for women to get an idea of what clothing was in season.

"I decided to start my own agency to help out young models because there is so much talent in Toowoomba," she said.

"The launch party is a way to get our name out there and for the boutiques to show off their autumn and winter lines. It's fantastic to see the return of some of last year's fashion mixed with new pieces."

Smoke and Mirrors

IT'S all about the layers at Smoke and Mirrors this season.

Stylist Brooke Parry said an autumn and winter essential was layering shirts.

"Everyone needs to have plain white and black t-shirts that can be layered underneath jumpers, jackets or coats," she said.

"These staple pieces have been very popular. I think people are picking up on the trends early this season.

"We have a lot of boho-themed outfits in store at the moment with a lot of burnt orange and olive.

"As always black and white jeans are in fashion as well."

The boutique is stocked with light, flowing outfits, maxi dresses, skirts and simple tops.

Ms Parry suggested when heading out on the town at night, leave your mini dresses at home.

"I would wear wet-look jeans, an ankle boot heel and a three-quarter top with a vest."

Ophelia

OPHELIA, formerly known as Bella Fille Boutique, is already stocked with autumn fashion goodies.

Owner Bri Conway said Toowoomba women were stocking their autumn wardrobe with jackets, jeans and boots.

"I'm not necessarily trend driven; I stock what I like and what I think will appeal to other people," she said.

"I think it's about having a stylish lifestyle and having statement pieces to pair with basics.

"Khaki, nude, olive and navy are definitely the best colours wear this autumn and winter."

She said wardrobe must-haves this season were midi skirts, leather jackets, leather pants and big overcoats.

"I have so many different pieces coming in at the moment, preparing for the cooler months," she said.

"Leather is going to be big, so leather jackets and pants are essential."

Florence and Marabel Collections

BEAUTIFUL autumn colours can be seen hanging on the racks at Florence and Marabel Collections this season.

Owner Donna Mills said autumn was her favourite season.

"It's all about bold, beautiful colours like burgundy, mustard and a few pastels as well," she said.

"Jumpsuits are still very popular and it seems trench coats have made a comeback."

Whether you are going out to lunch with friends or heading out for a night on the town floaty, loose-fitting dresses are your go to.

Ms Mills said shoppers were excited for the new trends.

"Everyone is looking forward to the new season," she said.

"At the end of each season people tend to get bored and want to move onto the next big thing.

"It's always exciting to wear something new and different."

Ivy Designer Collections

FROM every-day wear to high fashion, Ivy Designer Collections has you covered this autumn.

Sales assistant Imogen Hoffenberg said it was a good idea to have a range of looks in your wardrobe.

"I think women need a good mixture of high fashion and casual clothing," she said.

"The new wrap dress is really popular at the moment and of course playsuits are still in fashion."

She said the trend of over-sized wear was still big this year.

"We are selling a lot of knits and slouchy type wear. I think it's all about style and comfort," she said.

Ms Hoffenberg thinks women everywhere would sigh with relief at the news that low ankle boots were replacing stilettos.

"Low heels are a must-have this season because you can pair them with any outfit," she said.

"They are perfect for day or night wear."
