First day for Sunday library closure

TODAY is the first Sunday that Boyne Island and Gladstone libraries will be closed.

In April Gladstone Regional Council decided the cost of wages was too high because staff are paid at double time. Both libraries have been open from Monday to Sunday - with Sunday hours from 9am to 3pm.

Keeping the libraries open on Saturday but closing Sunday will save the council $154,745 in electricity and wages.

In a Facebook post yesterday the council said: "You can still access library resources online. We have ebooks, eaudio, magazines, streaming international movies as well as learning resources. Just click the Online Services tab on our website. Www.gladstonelibraries.qld.gov.au"
