Family's fence bears brunt of high winds in New Auckland
A NEW Auckland family's fence has borne the brunt of 48 hours of torrential rain and high winds.
Katrina and Ben Combridge were woken up by their daughter on Friday morning, who came running in yelling that half the fence was gone.
"We went out and discovered five panels of the back fence had been badly damaged," Katrina said.
The family only replaced the fence in September.
"I think it's the wind and there's just so much rain. The ground is so wet," Katrina said.
"Insurance advised us to take the damaged panels off because they were dangerous.
"We were mostly worried about the dogs and the kids."
Five panels of the fence were damaged.
Katrina said the insurance company had been good about the damage.
"We've just been staying inside," she said. "We've not seen this much rain for seven and a half years."
