Tis the season to dry out, at least it is for a banned man

BEING banned from all Gladstone hotels is not a good way to start the festive season.

But that's what William Anthony Button is facing after his drunken, disorderly behaviour landed him in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

On September 15 he was drinking at the Tannum Sands Hotel.

By 11pm he was heavily intoxicated, so staff asked him to leave. Button became aggressive, and a security guard ended up in hospital after a punch-up with him.

On November 4 Button was drunk and disorderly at the Reef Hotel. Magistrate Mark Morrow said it was obvious Button had a serious drinking problem.

The magistrate fined Button $2000 for the first incident and $400 for the Reef Hotel episode.

He is banned from all hotels in the Gladstone region until August next year.
