Times Gone By: Girls' football match sure to be fun

1971: Don't forget to see the three football matches at the Gladstone State High School's winter fair tomorrow starting at 2pm.

Two of the games will be played by all girl teams, and promise to provide hilarious entertainment.

Kent Manning, son of Mr and Mrs Roland Manning, Sutton Street, who attended Gladstone State High School before attending the University of Hawaii, is spending his summer vacation in Gladstone, before he returns to his studies.

The many friends of his sister, Vicki, who also was a student at GSHS before she returned to America, will be interested to know that she was wed to John David Kucmik at Lake Tahoe on Sunday.

Fashions were to the fore at Ferguson Park on Saturday for Gold Cup Day.

Mrs Eric Aldous, Fowler Street, chose a wool jersey frock in magnolia, nutmeg and beige tonings with brown accessories.

Mrs Alan Bedsor, Glegg Street, wore a black wool coat dress trimmed with cream and orange, and added cream accessories.

A smart mini of violet silk jersey teemed with white boots and bag was won by Mrs Malcolm Jenkinson.

Mrs Bell Brown's ensemble made of turquoise Thai silk was worn with a geranium pink petal hat and gloves.
