Times Gone By: Boyne Valley CWA gets its own home

1959: Miss A Breslin, who is one of Gladstone's well-known and highly respected citizens met with a painful accident on Tuesday night when she had a fall at the Civic Theatre and injured her right hip.

The ambulance was quickly on the scene and conveyed the injured lady to the hospital.

On Wednesday she was taken by air to Brisbane for further treatment.

Boyne Valley CWA: After years of waiting, the Boyne Valley branch of the CWA is now comfortably accommodated in its own premises.

The Littlemore Hall, which was handed over to the branch for removal, is now complete and the branch met for the first time in its own rooms in December.

All property belonging to the branch has been transferred from the Ubobo Memorial Hall, where the branch previously met.

Those present at the December meeting were: Mesdames T Mossman (in the chair), HT Rudder, FCK Cave, LA Pownall, W Dennis, S Muspratt, W Christie, WN Wedge, HM Muspratt, WG Spencer, C West, H Rope and Miss Muspratt.

Appreciation of the work done on the hall by Mr Cave was expressed.

Thanks also to the RSL and Mr Ron Lindley for generous donations.

Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Dennis and HM Muspratt.
