Site investigations for second bridge begin

DETAILED site investigations for the future Hoddinott Bridge are scheduled to start this week and continue until February 2015.

That will give way to foundation designs for the second bridge crossing between Boyne Island and Tannum Sands.

"Construction of Hoddinott Bridge is still years away, but investigations are required now at design stage to help plan and determine future requirements," Mayor Gail Sellers said.

The proposal requires development of two crossings - a 245m bridge over the Boyne River and a 175m bridge over the fork of the river.
