Time to crank up defence, says Storm star Cronk

CHAMPION Storm half-back Cooper Cronk says his team needs to step up defensively against Newcastle in tonight's clash at AAMI Park.

The Knights have lost to Penrith and Canberra in their opening two matches, while Melbourne beat both Manly and Penrith by a point.

"The way that they play, they're very aggressive with a big forward pack that like to dominate, so their speed of line defensively will be rushing our attack," Cronk (pictured) said.

"So we need to make adjustments there in terms of timings of our runs." Cronk, who sat out the Manly game after a pre-season operation on his shoulder, said the joint had been tight after the Penrith game but he was confident he would be able to play without difficulty in coming weeks.
