Crowds come out to see biggest tide of the summer

GLADSTONE residents witnessed the biggest tide of summer at the weekend.

A king tide of 4.69m reached Gladstone shores at 9.33am on Saturday.

But it didn't stop people from hitting the beach and making the most of the picture-perfect weather.

Boaties in the region were out in droves, taking advantage of the excellent conditions.

A representative from Gladstone Volunteer Marine Rescue said there had been a great number of people on the water.

"We had over 100 boats logged on over the weekend."

"Everyone that's gone out has come back on time," he said.

"The king tide was of no concern."
