Thurston will 'pack his boots' for Sunday's NRL grand final

NORTH Queensland superstar Johnathan Thurston will bring his boots to Sunday's grand final but unlike fellow skipper Matt Scott, Thurston is resigned to watching from the sidelines.

Thurston scuttled any suggestions he was in line for a fairy-tale comeback but said he still had a major role to play ahead of the Cowboys showdown with Melbourne.

"I'll pack my boots," Thurston laughed. "I ride the rollercoaster like the fans do. It's no surprise to me that this playing group has put the club into this position. I've seen it day in day out what they do.

"I'll be trying to get in there (this week) with a spring in my step. Talk to the boys a lot. Go to meetings and making sure that I still have a voice there."
