Bajool crash victim, 24, in a critical condition in hospital

UPDATE 9.45PM: A Rockhampton Hospital spokeswoman has confirmed the 24-year-old man, who had his leg amputated during yesterday's crash at Bajool, is today in a critical condition.

The spokeswoman says the man could be flown to Brisbane later today.

UPDATE 9.30PM: The mother of the man, who died in yesterday's fatal crash at Bajool, is still trying to be located and contacted, a Rockhampton Police spokesman says this morning.

The spokesman says the man's next of kin in Bundaberg have been contacted.

Meanwhile, authorities are still trying to establish exactly how the crash happened.

UPDATE 5.55PM: A MAN has died and two other have been injured after a single-vehicle crash in Bajool south of Rockhampton this afternoon.

Authorities say a man in his late 40s was killed when the car he was travelling in left the road and collided with a power pole on Port Alma Rd this afternoon.

He was a rear-seat passenger in a white Holden Commodore, travelling towards the community of Bajool about 3pm.

A 24-year-old man, also a passenger, is in a critical but stable condition in Rockhampton Hospital.

The male driver suffered minor injuries and was also transported to hospital for treatment.

UPDATE: 3.30PM: One person is believed to have been killed in a serious single-vehicle traffic crash at Bajool.

Unconfirmed reports coming in suggest that the person with an amputated leg is believed to be in a serious condition.

BREAKING 3PM: One person is reportedly amputated at the knee after a single-vehicle rollover in Port Alma Rd, in Bajool.

According to incoming reports, one person is believed to be critically injured. The third patient is believed to have sustained minor injuries.

The crash happened about 0.5km from the Cheetham Salt Mine in Bajool; just before 3pm.

RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue, Queensland Ambulance Service and other emergency services are heading to the scene.
