Three charged with murder after Christmas bashing

A MAN was bashed and left for dead on a Morayfield street on Christmas Day, a court has heard.

The three men charged with the murder, Anthony David Joseph Phillips, 27, of Kippa-Ring, Douglas Allan Phillips, 23, of Caboolture, and Dallas Dean, 32, of Kippa-Ring, appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

The trio has been committed to stand trial.

Roma police arrested Anthony and Douglas Phillips on December 30 at Muckadilla after a high-speed car chase on the Warrego Hwy between Roma and Mitchell earlier that day.

A fourth man, 32, from Deception Bay has also been charged with murder arising from the same incident.

The alleged victim was left with serious injuries at a home in Nina Ct, Morayfield on December 25 last year.

He was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital where he died.

The court heard from one witness who heard the victim's cries for help and ran to get a baseball bat.

"It's not something I'm ever going to forget," he said.

He told the court two men came to his front door before they crossed the street and attacked the 43-year-old.

He said the men, who he did not know, ran across the street and started punching, kicking and stomping on the man. He told the court they were joined by others - although he was not sure how many.

Neighbour Jill Rushton, who called triple-0 on the night, told the court she heard yelling in the street about 9pm and looked over her back fence. There she saw a man on the ground being kicked.

She said although there was street lighting, she could not make out the attacker's faces.

The matter will now be listed in the Brisbane Supreme Court at a future date.
