Police subdue aggressive man

TWO men and a female have been arrested following a disturbance at a residence in Tannum Sands.

The trio have been charged with a string of offences ranging from public nuisance, assault and obstruction to drug-related matters after the rowdy incident.

All three have been given notices to appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court on August 12 in relation to the matter.

Concerned residents made a series of Triple 0 calls to police at about 8pm last Saturday in relation to the disturbance which occurred in Wedge Street.

A police unit from Tannum Sands responded to the disturbance where they arrested a 23-year-old female for public nuisance and obstructing police.

One of the males at the scene became aggressive towards police with officers having to use OC spray to subdue and restrain the offender.

The offender, a 28-year-old Gladstone man, was later charged with serious assault, obstructing police and a public nuisance offence.

A 22-year-old Gladstone man was also arrested for assault and obstructing police for his role in the matter.

Tannum Sands Police officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Tony Poli said police were happy with the assistance provided by the public who called in relation to the disturbance and who later provided witness accounts of what occurred.

Snr Sgt Poli said it was important members of the community report any disturbances to police in a prompt manner to ensure a quick response to the incident.

He said this often resulted in matters being dealt with before they have the chance to get out of hand.
