Three accidents in just one day

WET weather kept Gladstone police busy yesterday, but mostly answering calls from the public about road closures.

Police have urged motorists to drive with caution on the state's wet roads following recent heavy rainfall and a spate of traffic crashes and reports of motorists getting stuck in flooded roadways.

Sergeant Dave Mooney said Gladstone police responded to three accidents between 6am and 4.15pm, including a head-on on the Gladstone Benaraby Road at 2.30pm, a motorcycle accident at 6.30am on Jefferis Road, Beecher, and a two-vehicle accident on the corner of Coon and Toolooa Streets at 1.15pm.

He said the number of accidents yesterday was typical of wet weather road conditions in the region.

There are no road closures in the immediate Gladstone region, however there are some around Baralaba and Taroom. Check the RACQ website for more information.

The Bruce Highway was closed about 2 kilometres north of Proserpine.
