THINGS TO DO: Tructor Bash on this weekend and more

TRACTORS, hot rods and old-school events will bring Turkey Beach alive this weekend.

The annual Turkey Beach Tructor Bash on July 8 is expected to bring more than 1000 people to the town.

Event coordinator Fran Bussa said the event helped put Turkey Beach on the map.

"We've got a lovely beach, we've got lovely fishing areas down here," she said.

"It's about getting people to know the area and hopefully bring some more (people) down."

Ms Bussa said it would be an "awesome" event for families.

There will be woodchopping, lawnmower racing at 11am and 1pm, sack and egg and spoon races.

A couple of highlights will be an obstacle course through the tractors where competitors will have to balance a bucket on their head as well as a tractor pull event.

Ms Bussa said there would be vintage cars, hot-rods and old tractors on display.

"I really think that it's going to be a really fun day," she said.

"A lot of the community have gotten involved this year, and that helps the event as well.

"It's to try and get some cohesion in the community and bring us all together as well."

The bash will be held from 7am at Worthington Rd Reserve.

It is a gold coin entry, with the money going to RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service and Volunteer Marine Rescue Service.
