Turning 60 a great reason to celebrate
THE turn of a decade is no small celebration, but to share in the revelry with four close friends was a treasure for Daphne Pohle.
Between April and August, five friends each blew out the candles marking their 60th birthdays.
All born in 1954, Yvonne McNelley, Audrey Guy, Marilyn Stewart, Daphne Pohle and Michelle Lamont have marked the beginning of what could be a long-standing tradition.
When business owner Mrs Pohle came to realise she and some of her customers would be celebrating the same milestone, she arranged a birthday breakfast.
"It wasn't a quick breakfast," she said with a laugh.
"We were there for a good couple of hours. We had a wonderful time."
Chattin' Cafe hosted the five-fold birthday celebration, where the women laughed, reminisced and toasted each other.
"We all intend to keep in contact for a long time to come," Mrs Pohle said.
"Being 60 is fantastic, and now we are looking forward to our 70th."
