Young filmmaker ready to get behind the camera
POWERLINES may connect our city to electricity, but for Stevan Markovic they are much more.
The aspiring film maker is in the process of creating his first short film.
These power lines, seen just outside Gladstone, will be the backdrop to some of the most pinnacle moments in the film.
While his plans are just on paper now, he has envisaged the film many times over the last two years.
The psychological thriller follows the story of Luka, after his partner Eva mysteriously disappears, and delves into the lovers' history and their dark past.
Luka has his first flashbacks in a scene of the power lines.
"These powerlines are a real cataract to those flashbacks," Markovic said.
For two years Markovic has thought of his short film concept.
He says, while many see living regionally as a hindrance to creativity, he sees it as a positive.
With a feature film shot in Gladstone almost released, and the Capricorn Film Festival, he said creativity in Gladstone was growing.
"It's been a great platform for young aspiring people within the arts," he said.
"It was great to watch all those things go on to really gage how it's done."
Markovic will begin and finish casting in April.
He plans to start filming by June.
