The Glen show early form in T20 pre-season competition
CRICKET: The Glen started its pre-season campaign with a third place at the Moltec T20 Club Bash Championships.
The two-day event saw powerhouse Gracemere take out the tournament after wins against Frenchville, The Glen and Norths.
The Glen lost its first game against Gracemere by five wickets before wins against Frenchville and Rockhampton Brothers.
Captain David Heymer just missed out once against Brothers with 12 runs, but scored a classy 69 and 33 against Gracemere and Frenchville respectively.
"We won two or three games games, but missed out on the final due to points," Heymer said.
"It was a good fun weekend."
Highlights of the round games included some big scores.
The Glen posted 172 against Frenchville and Norths scored 159 against Brothers, but the most exciting game of the round matches was Central Highlands' 183 against Frenchville, which amassed 176.
Gracemere's Mark O'Keefe produced a match-winning performance with 65 runs off 47 balls to help his team to 8-153.
Norths managed 8-101 as Gracemere's Justin Peacock and Josh Hamilton snared two wickets each.
Meanwhile competitions, starts dates and formats are yet to be finalised for the start of the cricket season proper.
Games are likely to start in early October.
