Geek wedding: 'You are the droid I have been looking for'

THE Imperial March, the theme song of Star Wars villain Darth Vader, was playing as "nerds" Stacey and Jake Cole signed their marriage certificate.

That wasn't the only geek element the pair brought into their wedding - their vows, and the proposal show just how much these two bonded over their love of sci-fi.

"The last line of my vows was; 'you are the guardian of my galaxy'," Stacey said.

"And his was, 'you are the droid I have been looking for'. We both love Star Wars, Dr Who and gaming. I am a total Disney fanatic and Jake actually proposed to me at Disneyland in Paris."

Jake Cole asked that his wedding guests refer to him as Lord Cole from now on, since Stacey bought a small piece of land in Scotland which allows the pair to rightfully claim the titles of Lord and Lady.

Jake even organised for a stranger to capture the moment, handing over his camera before dropping to one knee, but the actual photo is completely fake.

"Afterwards, the person taking the photo said, 'sorry but you forgot to turn the camera on' so we had to pose for it again," Stacey said.

The pair grew up in Tannum Sands and went to the same high school.

Stacey says Jake was a closet nerd and didn't bring it out until he realised that she "was a full blown nerd". Now their only major disagreement is over which superhero would win a battle; Batman or Superman.

"He's a Superman fan, I am Batman," Stacey, who also loves to dress up as Wonder Woman, said.
