Tennis open day one played in perfect conditions

THE Gladstone Tennis Open main draw kicked off today with near perfect conditions greeting players, including Gladstone junior Emma Westman.

Westman has come back to Gladstone from Brisbane, where she is at university, for the tournament.

She was not able to overcome breezy conditions, losing to third seed Taylor Douglas in the open draw.

Defending champion Calum Puttergill was also in action, cruising to an early lead in the second round after a first round bye.

Action continues tomorrow before finals on Monday.
