Ten things to do in Gladstone this weekend
IF you're looking for something to do in the Gladstone region this weekend, here are 10 suggestions to get you started.
The rodeo that was scheduled to take place at the Gladstone Showgrounds on Saturday has been cancelled.
1. Easts Shores official opening
THE community is invited to celebrate the official opening of the East Shores - Gladstone Coal Exporters Maritime Precinct on Sunday.
The entertainment and activities start at 1pm and include live music, Hubbub Sound Playground, magician and balloon artist, CQ Football for Children, roving entertainment including stilt walkers and hula hoop performers, and face painting.
A selection of food and drinks will be available for purchase throughout the afternoon including ice creams, coffee, cold drinks, hot chips and a free sausage sizzle from 1pm.
The community is reminded that this is an alcohol free event.
2. Elders Country Music Campout
THE Boyne Valley comes alive for a weekend of campfire jamming, canoeing, sightseeing, relaxing, good company and live music.
Head down for the day or take your van, tent or swag and camp out.
Saturday's festivities include an open mic day and night concert.
The campout will finish on Sunday with a bush poets breakfast.
Market stalls will be operating, plus food, drinks, coffee and ice creams.
There will be no bar facilities at the event, but BYO is permitted at the family event.
Tickets cost $10, or $40 for a family.

3. Christmas fun day fundraiser
CREATIVE Gladstone is hosting a Christmas fun day fundraiser on Saturday from 1pm.
If you have any ideas or are in need of some inspiration, head along to 97 Auckland St for the fun day, to put some Christmas decorations together for fundraising at BAM and at the Creative Christmas Open Day on December 13.
Some materials will be provided, but some are still needed, including old canvases, stencils, stuffing for fabric toys, thick brown paper or card, and brown paper bags.

4. Biloela Christmas Festival
BILOELA Christmas Festival is community event being held at Lion's Park, Gladstone Rd, Biloela from 5-10pm on Saturday.
There will be market stalls and food stalls, rides and entertainment for children and live entertainment.
Santa will attend and photographs will be taken for a small donation to Anglicare for the Support a Family Christmas Appeal.
Lighting of the Christmas tree is also planned.
5. Art exhibition at Gallery 67
AN art exhibition titled A Colour Story has opened at Gallery 67, featuring works from local artists Zoe Davey and Phoebe Huttunen.
The exhibition, at the gallery at 67 Goondoon St, Gladstone, presents portraits of local indigenous people, spiritual portraits as well as works from an indigenous artist showing spiritual awakening and a connection with the land.
The gallery will be open from 9am to 1pm on Saturday.
Artworks are for sale. The exhibition runs until December 12.
6. Gladstone Bowls Club cent sale
THE Gladstone Bowls Club will host a cent sale on Saturday. Doors open at 11am for a 1pm start.
Admission is $1 adults and 50 cents children.
There will be great prizes, raffles, a cake walk, children's prizes and a multi-draw.

7. Buy or swap organic produce
THE Port Curtis Organic Growers Garden Club's next meeting is on Saturday from 1.30-4pm.
Those attending should take a chair and coffee mug (tea and coffee provided by host) and any produce, fresh or preserved, you wish to sell, swap or give away.

8. Free yoga session
YOGA enthusiasts can enjoy a free lesson on Sunday as part of Riverstone Rise's Festival of Fun.
Enjoy a relaxing and spiritual yoga session by the water with Toni's Bodyworx Yoga at Corimba Park.
Toni is a qualified yoga instructor and is passionate about yoga.
Take a yoga mat, towel, water bottle and sun protection. Sessions are from 7-8am.

9. Build fitness with weekly run
IF you're looking for a way to build fitness, consider joining Parkrun on Saturdays at 7am.
Held every week at Lions Park, Parkrun is a free 5km course that is timed by volunteers.
It's part of a nationwide initiative run in various parks across Australia.
Anyone can attend, regardless of their experience or fitness level.

10. Chill out at Sunday session
LIGHTBOX Espresso and Wine Bar is the hottest place to be in Gladstone at the moment and Sunday is where you can try it out.
Take your friends along to the bar in Goondoon St, next to the Gladstone Entertainment and Convention Centre, for a cocktail.
The Sunday sessions are a chilled way of wrapping up a weekend while listening to some live acoustic music.
You can order tapas and sit at one of the booths from 2pm onwards.
