6. Learn to use a new art medium

EXPLORATION and discovery are the aims of a workshop at Creative Gladstone on Saturday.

Workshop tutor Kristel Kelly is looking forward to seeing people experiment with the "oil bars", a medium she describes as "essentially oil paint in a stick form".

"These oil bars are the perfect marriage between drawing and painting," Mrs Kelly said.

"The creamy texture is fantastic for blending with the oil bar itself as you draw or with your finger."

Though this workshop will show how to use this medium on canvas, they work equally well on paper and can be used for mixed media drawing and painting.

A list of materials required for the workshop and the oil bars themselves are available at Gladstone Picture Framing on Central Lane.

Bookings can be made by contacting Mrs Kelly on 0409 552 567 or by email aamataya@hotmail.com.
