Ten things to do in Gladstone this weekend
IF you're looking for something to do in the Gladstone region this weekend, here are 10 suggestions to get you started.
1. Beach Arts Music
THE popular Beach Arts Music event is on Saturday from 2-7pm at Millennium Esplanade at Tannum Sands.
The event features more than 90 stalls of food, arts, craft and clothing, plus live music.
Bronwyn Burke will perform from 2-3pm, followed by Chris Schofield 3-4pm, Sid 4-5pm and Just Quietly 5-7pm.
2. Calliope Market
THE Calliope Market will be held at the RSL Hall on Sunday from 2-4pm.
It's a great way to see what local small businesses have to offer, and there will be fun for the kids with a fire truck and ambulance to see.
Stalls will include candles, soap, jewellery, oils, fruit and veg, plants, arts and crafts, and party plan offerings.
There also will be a henna artist, furniture, antiques and clothing.
3. Classics, gypsy and jazz
VIOLINIST Ian Cooper and pianist Ambre Hammond will perform in Gladstone from 6.30pm on Saturday.
They will perform classic, gypsy and jazz music at CQUniversity's Grand Central Court.
The pair have been travelling across Queensland connecting with communities through performances and workshops.
The event is free to attend.
4. Parisian Spectacular
ST John the Baptist Catholic Primary School is hosting a Parisian Spectacular at the Gladstone Events Centre Yaralla on Saturday from 5.30pm until late.
There will be a champagne reception followed by French cuisine and a dessert station, plus a Casino De Paris game table.

5. White Ribbon charity ride
WHITE Ribbon Riders are hosting a Mates Ride Out event on Sunday.
Riders should meet at the Gladstone Bunnings car park at 8am for a ride to Agnes Water/1770.
Riders will be back by 3pm. Registration costs $10.

6. Calliope Catwalk Fashion Design Awards
THE Calliope Catwalk Fashion Design Awards gala presentation will be held on Saturday.
The event kicks off at 3pm at the Calliope School Hall.
This year's theme is Country Village.
There will be a licensed bar operating. Dress is cocktail or racewear.
Cost is $55 per person which includes a two course meal, nibbles and entertainment.

7. Seussical the Musical
GLADSTONE State High School will perform its first musical in four years with Seussical the Musical to hit the GECC stage on Saturday.
Students from years 7 to 12 star in the production at Gladstone Entertainment Centre.
The show is based on the Horton Hears A Who book, but incorporates a number of other Dr Seuss stories.
Tickets to the show are $20 for adults and $15 for students and concession holders, and can be purchased at the entertainment centre box office or online here.
8. Family Charity 4WD Competition
THE Gladstone and District 4WD Club is hosting its annual Family Charity 4WD Competition at Lowmead on Saturday.
Entry is $10 per person, with kids 15 years and under admitted for free.
There will be 10 stages at a cost of $10 per stage. There's also at GPS stage at a cost of $50, plus a weekend warriors vs comp trucks at night, also costing $50.
There will be a jumping castle for the kids, and camping is available.
Those attending are encouraged to take their own food, but club members will be cooking for the evening meal.
Drinks will be available throughout the day.
Funds raised from the event will be donated to Roseberry Community Services and Damon's Hope for a Cure.

9. Gladstone Junior Golf Open Championship
THE Gladstone Junior Golf Open Championship is on at Gladstone Golf Club in Sun Valley on Saturday, with tee off from 7.30am.
There are three, six, nine, 13 and 18 hole divisions.
Nominations have already closed, but there will be plenty of golfing action for spectators.
10. Rocky Glen Pool Competition
THE Rocky Glen Hotel hosts a pool competition from 2pm every Sunday, with a first prize of $200 and second prize of $100.
Entry is $5 which includes a drink.
A courtesy bus runs from 1-7pm.
