Ten locals face several drug charges following raids

TEN people were arrested and charged in Gladstone yesterday as two properties were raided by Queensland Police in an operation targeted at the Mongols Outlaw Motorcycle Gang.

The operation took place in Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, the Gold Coast and Gladstone.

A total of 50 people were charged including 10 current and former members of the Mongols.

Detective Inspector Terry Lawrence of Taskforce Maxima said none of the 10 Mongol members were from Gladstone but they would allege they were associated.

"We will be alleging the Outlaw Motorcycle Gang was trafficking to Gladstone," he said.

"(They were) either taking drugs up to Gladstone or the associates were driving down (to the Gold Coast) to get them," he said.

The 10 people charged in Gladstone face a total of 13 charges.

A person was charged with trafficking ice and another for producing cannabis.

The others face charges of possessing a dangerous drugs, utensils and property used in relation to a dangerous drug.
